CARSO series from Scantech

The Scantech 3D laser scanner can be mounted on any CNC-machine equipped with encoder feed back from X,Y and Z axis. The data acquisition is done on a separate PC that interface to the machine axis and the scanner.

  • All systems include a 3D laser scanner with 100 (+/- 0.05mm) (3.94 in), 200 (+/- 0.1 mm) (7.87 in) (or 400 mm (+/- 0.2 mm) (15.75 in) scan range.
  • Interface board for PC ISA or PCI that interface to scanner via RS422, up to 4 axes encoder interface XYZ & W. Digital input output PLC compatible 24 VDC logic.
  • Encoder interface to:
    1. Square pulse TTL
    2. Sinusoidal pulses 1Volt pp
    3. Sinusoidal 11my Amp pp
    4. Fanuc Alfa I64 digital encoders
    5. Mitsubishi OSE253 digital encoders
    6. Stepping motor interface Direction and Clock pulse
  • Board with screw terminals to mount in CNC-machine
  • Cable to connect CNC-machine and PC board
  • The scanner comes in a wood box for transportation and storage.

Any CARSO product can be upgraded to another level in software.

NB: Encoder interface Square pulse is standard, the other are optional.

Electrical connections - How to install the scanner on your machine

All you need is to connect the encoders of your X- and Y-axis and 24 VDC to the board with screw terminals.

  1. X-encoder signals. Four wires to connect: +A,-A,+B and -B signal
  2. Y-encoder signals. Four wires to connect: +A,-A,+B and -B signal
  3. Power to scanner. Two wires to connect: 24 VDC/5 Watt plus and minus
You can also interface to the Z-axis with our system.

Software Included with the Laser Digitizer

CARSO/digitize software features:

  • Digitize on a 3-5 axis CNC-machine: polylines and points
  • Exports DXF-format
  • Exports PRO/E ibl-format
  • Exports Scantech Metafile format
  • Exports ASCII format (X, Y, Z Output)
  • Automatic data reduction of polylines (based on curvature analysis)
  • Inch or metric output

CARSO/Digitize will export data points to any Reverse Engineering or CAD/CAM software system that reads the above formats.
