Example of Laser Scan of a piece of plastic Molding

First, we had to paint the model in pale white because the model was made of plastic and was too transparent for the laser. The scan looked like this after it was read into our CARSO Cad/Cam software.

Size of scan: 159 x 247 x 20 mm

Points: 300,000

Step in X: 0.37 mm

Step in Y: 0.3 mm

Duration: 15 min

The first tool was for roughing and was an 8 mm Ball running in layers in Z of max 8 mm. After completion there was 1 mm left for the next tool.

The next tool was a 3 mm Ball Mill and it looks like this after it was finished
